We're tired of products that wrap an LLM and claim it solves everything. Tired of big-tech logos meaninglessly slapped across a homepage. And no, we don't want to provide our phone number when we sign up.

At Whole Earth Labs we want transparent software with a purpose.

Communication is tight, we're in the same time zone. Yes, we leverage AI to build, but we test thoroughly. We ship fast, but not too fast.

We choose to build software we are passionate about. We focus on C2PA, an open standard that can prove the provenance of digital content such as photos, videos, documents, live streams, and more. Whole Earth Labs holds a trusted root certificate and has built products that leverage this spec. In an increasingly AI-driven world, we believe, in some ways, this can bring sanity back to society.

Whole Earth Labs was founded by Dan Kanefsky. Dan has worked in both big tech and early-stage startups. Most of his engineering career was spent writing open source software in the crypto space. More recently, he has specialized in building native apps for iOS and Android.

About the name: it's a nod to Stewart Brand's Whole Earth Catalog and what it stood for. Access to tools, no gatekeepers. No affiliation, just respect.
